With the much appreciated sponsorship of the FUCHS FOUNDATION two
highly successful seminars with the theme: THE CHILD resources for the child in
need, were attended by 199 persons.

Child Protection Week: An exhibition
portraying the work of the Society for Child and Family Welfare was visited by 400
children.
Child Playacting Festival: The prevention of child abuse,
neglect and molesting were play acted to 350 pre-school learners.
Development Group: Volkome Vrouegroep:
These 25 women gather weekly for sessions in handcrafts, life skills and financial
guidance. The group qualified for a grant from the Poverty Alleviation Programme and
income generating projects will be implemented in the new financial year.
Adopt a Family Project: 25 Donors
rendered material or financial assistance.
St Michaels Relief Fund: The Anglican
Church donated quarterly essential funds towards the material and financial needs of the
Mangaung Community and the two day care centres.
Recruiting of potential foster and safety parents:
15 Families have been identified, screened and trained to act as foster and safety
parents.
Kruger National Park: 75 Foster children
were invited to join Pres Mandelas birthday celebrations. It was a boost to their
knowledge on wild life.
Foster Care Enrichment Society: On a
quarterly basis a combined meeting with other family care organisations took place. The
society aims to develop and assist foster parents.
Community Awareness Project: A successful project
was launched by the fourth year students at Sejake. The importance of a hygienic
environment was stressed to 320 participants. Karee Nature Reserve and Nursery donated 100
trees which were planted by the community in the area.
Sport and Re-creation Information Day:
Third year students presented a successful day at Extention 5 and Lapologa to underline
the importance of sport and re-creation.
Information session concerning school leaving:
In Heidedal 100 Grade Twelves had the opportunity to gain knowledge on work application
procedures, communication and drawing up a CV.
Training seminar to third year Nursing students:
60 (MANCOVS) students were enlightened on child abuse, neglect and molesting.
Information seminar to third year Nursing students:
The services of the Society for Child and Family Welfare and our association towards
primary health were presented to 90 (MANCOVS) students.
Vuka Club: Four women generate an income from
this needlework club.
Welfare Empowerment Project: Temporary
work (packing of school books) was offered to 10 unemployed persons.
